In short: for an invisible adaptive foundation, moisturise your skin, shake the bottle, place a pea-sized drop on the back of your hand and dab it on with a slightly damp sponge from the centre of the face outwards. Leave it to set for a minute so the shade can adjust, then blend the edges along the jaw and the top of the neck.
Where do visible lines come from?
A visible line between the face and the neck almost always has one of these causes:
-
a slightly wrong shade, the classic problem with shade-range foundations;
-
too much product, which builds up around the edges of the face;
-
applying with your fingers, which deposits the product unevenly;
-
edges that aren't blended under the jaw and around the hairline.
Adaptive foundation solves the first point: the shade adjusts to your skin. The other three are solved with the right technique, and that's what we show you here.
What you need
- your usual moisturiser;
-
Elegance II, our adaptive foundation;
- a slightly damp blender sponge (squeezed out in a towel), free from 2 bottles.
The 7-step method
-
Moisturise and wait five minutes. Dry skin absorbs the product unevenly. Let the cream sink in before you start.
-
Shake the bottle for a few seconds to distribute the micro-beads.
-
Place a pea-sized drop on the back of your hand, not directly on your face. You'll control the amount better.
-
Start in the centre: cheeks, nose, forehead, chin. That's where most redness is.
-
Dab, don't drag. Tapping releases the pigments evenly and leaves a thin film. Work outwards with what's left on the sponge.
-
Leave it to set for a minute. The shade finishes adjusting during this time. Don't judge the result in the first ten seconds.
-
Blend the edges and build up. Run the almost-empty sponge under the jaw, over the top of the neck and along the hairline. Add a thin second layer wherever you want more coverage.

Adjusting the coverage
-
Healthy glow: a single pea-sized drop for the whole face.
-
Full coverage: two drops, in two thin layers.
-
Targeted imperfection: a touch of product tapped on with the tip of the sponge, after the first layer.
Two thin layers always last better than one thick layer.
The most common mistakes
-
Judging too quickly: the shade keeps adjusting for a minute.
-
Using a dry sponge: it absorbs the product and leaves streaks.
-
Forgetting to shake: the micro-beads aren't evenly distributed.
-
Overloading the eye area: the skin there is thin, a tiny amount is enough.
-
Not cleaning the sponge: wash it with mild soap after each use and let it air-dry.
In the evening: remove it properly
Foundation removed properly means clear skin the next day. A reusable microfibre make-up remover pad and a little lukewarm water are enough to remove Elegance II without rubbing. The pads are free from 3 bottles.
Frequently asked questions
Why does my foundation leave white streaks?
The product hasn't been worked in enough yet: keep tapping, as the pigments are released under pressure, and leave it to set for a minute.
How long does it take for the shade to adjust?
Allow about one minute after application.
Should I apply foundation to my neck?
There's no need to cover your neck. Simply blend the edges over the top of the neck and under the jaw with the almost-empty sponge.
How long does application take?
Thirty seconds once you've got the hang of it, plus a minute to set. Ideal for busy mornings.
